This electrode is designed for creating a durable and resilient surface on unalloyed and low alloyed materials with high tensile strength. It can withstand impact and abrasion and has a hardness rating of 57-60 HRC.
When welding, it is recommended to use a short arc and to apply a buffer-layer of 18/8Mn type on materials that are prone to cracking. For low alloyed, high carbon tool steels, it is necessary to preheat them to 200-400°C depending on their thickness and composition. After surfacing, the material should be allowed to cool slowly in still air.
