DPT SET - STAVICHEM CLEAN, STAVICHEM PENETRANT, STAVICHEM DEVELOPER
The DPT test (dye penetrant test) is a key non-destructive testing (NDT) method for finding surface defects in metals and other non-porous materials, and the DPT test kit contains everything required to carry it out. Also called a DPT set or DPT dye penetrant test kits, it reveals cracks, seams, porosity and other surface discontinuities that ordinary visual inspection can miss. Welding, fabrication, automotive manufacturing and heavy engineering are among the industries that use these kits widely. Because defects are detected quickly and reliably, a DPT test kit supports product quality, operational safety and compliance with industrial inspection standards.
Product details
Key Features and Benefits
A DPT dye penetrant test kit has several features that make it a dependable, efficient inspection solution in many industries. They allow defects to be detected accurately while keeping inspection simple and affordable
Accurate Surface Defect Detection
A DPT set is made to pick up surface flaws such as cracks, seams, porosity, laps and cold shuts. A DPT test for welding is particularly useful, because these defects can weaken welded structural components if they go unnoticed.
High Sensitivity Inspection
A DPT test kit can detect very small defects, which is among its biggest advantages. The penetrant can reveal surface flaws with depths from approximately 1 micron to 30 microns
Simple Three-Step Process
Most DPT dye penetrant test kits work as a straightforward three-stage system made up of a cleaner, a penetrant and a developer, so inspection is quick and easy to carry out
Non-Corrosive and Safe Chemicals
The chemicals in a standard DPT set are generally non-corrosive and are designed to be safe for the user and for the material being inspected
Specifications
The technical specifications of a DPT test kit support dependable performance during inspection. They describe how the kit works and which applications it covers

Given these specifications, DPT dye penetrant test kits are well suited to precise inspection and quality control in many industries
Properties
A DPT set owes its effectiveness to a number of chemical and physical properties. They let inspectors detect defects accurately while handling the materials safely and getting dependable results
Excellent Capillary Penetration
In a DPT check, the penetrant in the kit has strong capillary action, so it seeps into extremely fine cracks and surface discontinuities
Fast Surface Cleaning
Before testing, the cleaner supplied with DPT dye penetrant test kits removes oil, grease and contaminants effectively, which keeps inspection results accurate
Clear Defect Indication
The developer draws penetrant trapped in defects up to the surface, producing clear, visible indications that inspectors can identify easily
Material Compatibility
A high-quality DPT set performs well on ferrous and non-ferrous metals and on certain plastics and ceramics
Safe Chemical Composition
Most DPT test kits are formulated to be non-toxic and non-corrosive, which suits industrial inspection environments

How a DPT Test Works
The DPT test is a simple three-step process. The surface is first cleaned with the solvent cleaner to remove oil, dirt and contaminants. The red dye penetrant is then applied and left to dwell, so it seeps into any surface cracks or flaws by capillary action. After excess penetrant is wiped off, the white developer goes on. Defects then show as visible red indications on the white developer background, which makes them easy to spot. The process is especially common as a DPT test for welding, where inspection after welding is needed to verify joint integrity before service.
