STAVI J ELECTRODE HOLDERS
The STAVI J ELECTRODE HOLDERS use a J-type jaw that grips the electrode along its length, giving positive retention at 0°, 45° and 90°. The range is offered in 200A, 300A and 500A, with imperial electrode sizing from 5/32" (4.0mm) up to 3/8" (9.5mm).

Frequently Asked Questions
what is STAVI j electrode holders
A STAVI J electrode holder is a heavy-duty manual arc welding clamp (also known as a "stinger") designed to grip a welding rod firmly while transferring electrical current safely
How do I choose between the different STAVI holder series?
Work through it in this order: current rating against your machine's maximum output, then head type against how the welder changes rods and works positions, then weight against how long the holder is held per shift, then body material against how roughly the holder will be treated. Price is the last filter, not the first — a holder that fails mid-shift costs more in downtime than the difference between models.
How much electrode stub is left unused with the j electrode holder?
Every holder leaves a stub — the length of rod that can no longer be gripped and burned safely. Across a plant consuming rods by the tonne, stub length is a real consumable cost. A jaw that grips closer to the end of the rod reduces waste, but burning a rod down too far overheats the jaw insulator. As a working rule, leave roughly 35–40 mm of stub to protect the insulator; a holder that forces a longer stub than that is costing you rod.
What is the difference between an electrode holder and an earth clamp?
They are the two ends of the same welding circuit. The electrode holder carries current to the rod and is held by the welder; the earth clamp — also called the work clamp or return clamp — completes the circuit back from the workpiece to the machine. Both must be rated for the same current as the machine. A common site fault is fitting a correctly rated holder alongside an undersized or poorly attached earth clamp, which produces arc instability that welders often blame on the holder.
