STAVI L ELECTRODE HOLDERS

STAVI L ELECTRODE HOLDERS

The STAVI L ELECTRODE HOLDERS offer the widest choice of ratings in the range, with six models from 200A to 600A. Imperial electrode capacities run from 5/32" (4.0mm) to 3/8" (9.5mm), and cable capacity scales all the way to 4/0 (120mm²) on the 600A model.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the "L" designate in the STAVI L electrode holder?

STAVI L Electrode Holders are specialized heavy-duty manual arc welding clamps manufactured by Stanvac International to securely grip and conduct current to welding electrodes

Does the handle stay cool during long welding runs?

The handle should stay comfortable to hold through a normal run. If it does not, the cause is usually one of three things rather than the handle itself: the holder is rated below the current being drawn, the welding cable is undersized for the run length, or the cable lug at the rear of the handle has worked loose. Check the lug first — it is the commonest and the easiest to fix.

How do I change an electrode quickly without removing my gloves?

Release the stub by operating the jaw lever with the gloved hand, drop it into a stub bin rather than on the floor, and seat the new rod fully into the groove before releasing the lever. Seating fully is the step welders skip when working fast, and a partially seated rod arcs inside the jaw and burns the contact faces.

Does handle diameter affect welder fatigue?

Yes, and more than most buyers expect. A handle too thin for a gloved hand forces a tighter grip to keep control, which fatigues the forearm well before the shift ends. A handle too thick prevents a secure grip at all. This is the specification most worth checking physically with the welders who will use it, rather than from a datasheet.
