STAVITRODE A 31
DESCRIPTION & APPLICATIONS :
Niobium-molybdenum bearing Inconel electrode for joints that are heat resistant and cold-tough, usable in every position.
Typical base metals are inconel, monel, nickel and iron-nickel-chrome alloys, joined to themselves, to alloyed steels or to stainless and heat resisting steels.
Welding technique: thoroughly clean the surface first, then weld at minimum amperage with a very short arc, using a stringer bead or slight weaving. Maintain a root gap of 2 mm, and keep the V between 70 - 80°.
UNIQUE FEATURES :
- Excellent out of position welding.
- High temperature scaling resistance is excellent.
- Even at elevated temperatures, corrosion resistance remains excellent.
- Welding positions: flat, vertical up, horizontal, overhead.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is STAVITRODE A 31 used for?
It joins inconel, monel, nickel and iron-nickel-chrome alloys to themselves, to alloyed steels, and to stainless and heat resisting steels, producing heat resistant and cold-tough joints.
What mechanical properties can be expected from STAVITRODE A 31?
Typical values are 400 N/mm² yield strength, 600 N/mm² tensile strength and 40% elongation (A5).
How should the joint be prepared when using STAVITRODE A 31?
Clean the surface thoroughly and keep a root gap of 2 mm with the V between 70 - 80°. Weld at minimum amperage with a very short arc, using a stringer bead or a slight weaving technique.
Which amperages and welding positions suit STAVITRODE A 31?
Use 70 - 90 A for 3.15 mm and 100 - 140 A for 4.00 mm. It can be welded flat, vertical up, horizontal and overhead.
